PIC16F877A
Microchip PIC16F877A 8-bit flash MCU, 14 KB flash, 368 B RAM, 20 MHz, 33 I/O and 8-channel 10-bit ADC, in a 40-pin DIP package.
The PIC16F877A is a Microchip 8-bit CMOS flash microcontroller in a 40-pin package, based on the classic PIC architecture with only 35 single-word instructions and a 200 nanosecond instruction cycle, so it reaches about 5 MIPS at 20 MHz with a simple and easy-to-learn instruction set. It offers 14 KB of flash program memory (8K x 14 words), 368 bytes of RAM and 256 bytes of EEPROM data memory, with 33 general-purpose I/O pins and eight 10-bit analog-to-digital converter channels. The peripheral set includes three timers, two capture-compare-PWM modules, an MSSP module for SPI and I2C, a USART for serial communication and two analog comparators, which suit a general control and instrumentation application. The device operates from about 4.0 V to 5.5 V over an industrial temperature range of -40 °C to +85 °C, and the in-system programmable flash and the 256 bytes of EEPROM make the firmware update and the parameter storage straightforward. It is up-ward compatible with the earlier PIC16C5X and PIC16C7X devices, which eases a migration, and it remains one of the most widely used PIC parts for teaching and for industrial control. Every device BeiLuo ships is factory-traceable and includes an import declaration, a certificate of origin and a RoHS compliance file. Our FAE team helps you choose the memory and the package and plan the peripherals.
FAE Professional Review
The PIC16F877A is a classic 8-bit workhorse, a good fit for a general control, an instrumentation or a teaching design where the small instruction set and the low pin count are an advantage. It has a 10-bit ADC, an MSSP for SPI and I2C and a USART, which cover a wide range of tasks. Confirm the package and the clock, and use the in-system programming for the update.

Frequently Asked Questions
What projects suit the PIC16F877A?
It suits a general control, an instrumentation or a teaching design that needs a low-cost 8-bit core, a 10-bit ADC, SPI and I2C and a USART, in a 40-pin package. The 14 KB of flash and the 256 bytes of EEPROM cover many applications.
Confirm the memory and the peripherals for your design.
Do I need more performance or USB?
Choose the PIC18F4550 when the design needs a higher throughput, more memory or an integrated USB 2.0 interface, and the 32-bit PIC32 when it needs a larger address space and a higher performance. The PIC16F877A covers the simpler cases.
